Terry Fox
Today we ran in memory of loved ones, friends, and family who have lost their battle with cancer. We also ran to raise money for cancer reaserch, and the Terry Fox foundation so that others can win their battle with cancer. I think that Terry Fox is an inspirational hero. In 1980 with one leg amputated, he started the Marathon of hope to raise money, and awarness for cancer. During the marathon he ran 143 days, and 5,373 Km. He made it from St. John's, Newfoundland to Thunder Bay, Ontario before he died of cancer. The marathon of hope is the largest one day fundraiser for cancer reaserch. To this day over 500 million dollars has been raised in his name. Our Terry Fox run started with a morning stretch alongside all of the kids at my school. We then started to run around the neiborhood. I ran a total of 5 laps during the run. I was glad to have participated in this event in Terry Fox's memory.
